MarineTraffic leverages the rich API sets offered by Google Maps Platform to provide shipping professionals with actionable information and vessel monitoring anywhere in the world. The familiar map interface and the Geocoding API provide accurate location tracking and business directory information enriched with weather, tidal, in-depth asset tracking, and other data critical to shipping professionals. The Maps JavaScript API enables live features within the interactive maps and the Maps Static API integrates with the MarineTraffic backend to provide deeper insights into where vessels have been, where they’re going, and when they’ll arrive.

MarineTraffic partnered with Snowdrop Solutions, who helped them during the Google Maps Platform implementation phase assisting with consultancy on technical issues. Collaboration is still going on after this implementation phase with the optimisation on maps usage, among other things.
