Exploring FITUR Madrid: The First Tourism Trade Fair of 2020

Italia Stand FITUR

Our team based in Spain attended FITUR Madrid (22nd January – 26th January) during this past week.

FITUR is considered one of the great business forums of the global tourism industry. This event had the highest attendance in its history with over 150,011 participants from 140 countries.

On its 40th anniversary, Fitur highlighted South Korea as a primary partner country and outlined many key trends such as sustainable development and technological innovation.

Within this framework, FITURNEXT focused its programme on how tourism can contribute to local economic development.

During these days, the organization presented FITURNEXT 2020 Report, which analyses more than 200 initiatives with positive social and environmental effects in terms of sustainability – and with a high potential for being replicated.

In addition to the pavilions and stands, FITUR offers its visitors several work areas. FITUR B2B Match and FITUR MICE, for business. FITURTechY, for specialized content, knowledge and trend forums – highlighting innovation and digital transformation as keys to the sector’s competitiveness. And FITUR TALENT, a new space that emphasizes people, their talent, their skills and professional training; among others
